January 16, 2018

DIVA!, the film of the life of Valentina Cortese, based on her autobiography “Quanti sono i domani passati’ (How Many Tomorrows Have Passed), produced by Casta Diva Pictures (part of Casta Diva Group) and D.O. Production and directed by Francesco Patierno, is in line to enter the shortlist of five for the 2018 David di Donatello award, the Italian prize for cinema given by the David di Donatello section of the Italian Film Academy, whose prizegiving ceremony will be held on 21st March 2018.
DIVA!, which is competing in the “Best Documentary” category, retraces the life of Valentina Cortese, using eight great actresses (Barbora Bobulova, Anita Caprioli, Carolina Crescentini, Silvia D’Amico, Isabella Ferrari, Anna Foglietta, Carlotta Natoli and Greta Scarano). It is a journey through the memories and the characters who have been notable in the life of this extraordinary Italian actress, a homage to the art of being actress, woman and artistic personality.
The only male presence in the film is an exceptional Michele Riondino in the role of the legendary stage director Giorgio Strehler.
The docufiction, whose world premiere was on 2nd September 2017 at the 74th Venice International Film Festival, where it was part of the Official ‘Out of Competition’ Selection, was received with enthusiasm. At the end of the showing, in a sold-out Sala Grande, it was given ten minutes of applause and a standing ovation.
